AGES 4 TO 7

Little Ninjas & Tigers: Taekwondo for ages 4 to 7

Short classes, big wins. Our youngest students learn to listen, take turns, kick, punch and balance, and they go home proud of something they did themselves. Classes in Port Moody, Burnaby and Port Coquitlam.

Two classes, built for their age

Little Ninjas, ages 4 to 5

Once a week, 40 minutes. Short, fun classes made for little attention spans. At four and five, one class a week is plenty, and it keeps them excited to come back. Belts: White to Orange.

Tigers, ages 5 to 7

Twice a week, 45 minutes. Kicks, blocks and patterns, plus the habits that carry into school: focus, self-control and respect. The second class builds on the first instead of repeating it. Belt by belt, they learn that hard things get easier with practice. Belts: White to Green. Make-up classes included.

Five, and not sure which?

Some five-year-olds are ready for Tigers. Some love Little Ninjas a little longer. Bring them to Taekwondo 101 and we’ll place them in the right class.

Progress they can see

Little Ninjas and Tigers earn stripes every week. The stripes add up to tip belts (yellow, green, blue, red and black) on the way to their first colour belt, and colour belt tests run every month.

We’re strict about the small things: bow on and off the mats, uniform on properly, on the mat before class starts. They carry over into life beyond the mats. Every student learns the five tenets: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. Your part is easy. Once a week, ask your child which one they used, and where.

Parents ask

What age can my child start?
Four. Little Ninjas is our youngest class, for ages 4 to 5.

Is once a week enough at four?
Yes. At that age, one class a week builds focus and listening and keeps them excited to come back.

Do they need experience?
No. Everyone in the room at Taekwondo 101 starts from the same place.

What do they wear the first time?
Comfortable clothes. The uniform comes when they join, and it’s a gift.
